My Approach

Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is a short-term, goal-oriented psychotherapy treatment that takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. Its goal is to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind people's difficulties, and so change the way they feel.

is based on the premise that what we think leads to how we feel and behavior. By identifying negative/flawed thinking and replacing those thoughts with truth, provides a basis to change our feelings and thus behavior. Automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) contributes to anxiety and depression. CBT is a research supported treatment modality for depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders.

In addition to CBT, Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is the term for medical products and practices that are not part of standard medical care.

  • Complementary medicine is treatments that are used along with standard medical treatments but are not considered to be standard treatments.

  • Alternative medicine is treatments that are used instead of standard medical treatments.

CAM provides methodologies that can be used in conjunction with CBT or as alternatives. CAM treatment modalities include yoga, meditation, aromatherapy (essential oils), herbs, energy healing, tai chi, dietary supplements, nutrition, massage, etc.
